I guessed by now, many people are aware of affiliate programs and also know that it can generate for them a handsome income if done properly.

Being an affiliate is a quick and simple way of earning money online. You do not need to have your own product. You do not need to have a sales page website. You do not need to have a merchant account with the payment gateway. You don’t have to think of what product to create next. Hence it free yourself from all these time consuming chores and still able to make money online.

But in reality, most affiliates are not making a whole lot of money and some don’t even make enough for to pay for their meals. This is because most people have the wrong perception of affiliate marketing. They thought that all it takes is to do is to get someone to buy the product that they are promoting and eventually they will get the commission into their bank account from the sales of the product . This sounds simple enough and in a nut shell, this is what affiliate program is all about.

So why are there still so many affiliates out there not making enough money? The answer lies in the way the product is being promoted and the manner the affiliates present it.

In order to promote a product, you need to know the product well. So in order to do this, go ahead and buy the product, study it, and test it. Check if the result is near to what is being claimed. At the same time, ask for feedback from those who have purchased this product before and take notes of the positive feedback. Another way of getting information about the product you are promoting is to write to the owner. Explain to him that you would like to promote his product and would want to know the advantages of having this product and how it can help the buyer to get the most out of it. The owner would be most glad to know you are helping him to sell his product and he is most willing to give you all the positive information and advantages of using this product. You can then gather all these information and tell others about the goodness of this product through your Facebook, Twitter, Wayn and even Squidoo. Remember to include your affiliate link in your writing.

If you have lots of info about this product you can also write a report for anyone who has intention of buying this product to download it. Add your affiliate link in the report so that if they chose to buy, they can click on your link to purchase the product and you make your commission.

Lastly whatever you write has to sound genuine and sincere. No one wants to buy from a cheater or a liar.
