Often children will show an aptitude for something when they are very young. They might excel in a certain subject at school or express an interest in an area which will surprise the parents when the child utters the interest. For instance, many children who show an interest in building things when they are very young might grow up to become architects, home builders, construction company owners.

Others might be really enthusiastic about animals. These children might grow up to become veterinarians. If a child enjoys spending an extraordinary amount of time cooking with an adult, they might become a chef or restaurant owner. Others who enjoy playing office sometimes grow up to become lawyers or business executives.

Most parents allow children to be introduced to many types of recreational and sports activities throughout their early and teen years. This is good practice to help children develop good social skills, sportsmanship and to broaden their horizons.

In addition to learning new skills while having fun, children who are introduced to various recreational programs will naturally learn about their own personal preferences and aptitudes. They will glean a sense of self that they might not otherwise have recognized or developed.

For instance, a summer camp may have horseback riding or golf as a regular activity. A child wishing to attend a camp, for the first time, which offers these programs will, of course, be curious about that specific activity. They will discover during the process of attending the camp whether or not they enjoy the activity.

They will also be able to determine whether or not they have a propensity toward that particular activity. If a child who is introduced to, and enjoys, golf at a very early age will continue to develop that skill over their life-time. They will have practiced that skill for thousands of hours and it will become almost second nature.

They will then be empowered in that activity in at least two ways - the first being their natural inclination toward that particular sport, the second being the years of development and honing that skill. By the time they have reached their late teens, or young adulthood, they will have racked up thousands of hours and will have mastered that skill.

A similar effect happens when children enjoy subjects such as Math, Physics, Chemistry, Reading or Writing. They will seem to enjoy all sorts of activities which involve these specific areas of learning. Children might spend hours at a time reading books or they might use their imagination to tell stories, or write poetry, for instance.

Some children who excel in Math, for example, will find that they are inclined toward theoretical endeavors when they are looking for jobs. Those kids who enjoy and excel in Math will certainly be interested in the business and financial sectors of the work-world.

Headhunters and business recruiters are specialists who are on the lookout for employees who are experts in their particular field. Surprisingly, these experts will probably have been given a glimpse of their future in their childhood.
