Follow up and support are an area which really is a trial.

Firstly, to offer full support, you do need to know our product thoroughly. This takes some hard work and in any case isn’t often necessary. So, don’t waste time learning all the ins and outs of your service or product. If someone wants your help, simply put the problem back to them and suggest that they look for their answers with Google, everything yo u could possibly want to know can be found there.

And what if they decide they want your help at the weekend, or after 6pm when you have finished work for the day? It’s very inconsiderate of them, and so you are perfectly justified in waiting till the next working day or when you come back form holiday.

With your email deletions going well, you are likely to delete their request for help before you even read it – don’t worry; they probably won’t persevere too much.

Guarantees are mandatory – you can’t even sell products through some of the major sellers on the internet without one. But don’t take it too seriously. If you do get asked for a refund, tell them in no uncertain terns that “they are idiotic to want a refund – but here it is and don’t bother me again!” That way they are very unlikely to buy from you again, and your failure in internet marketing is assured.

Repeat sales – this is a drag. It’s much more fun to get one sale from one person than to follow them up, or to offer them more products or even to build up a relationship with them! And all to get a second or third sale. Why bother?

This article is short – because the subject isn’t really important unless you want to succeed on the internet. One of the best ways to fail is simply to ignore the needs of you customers. Be late in delivery and don’t bother to answer questions unless they are really pressing you. As long as you have got their money, that is all you need bother about.
