Certified Nursing Assistant Or CNA Salary

by Lance Thorington(7)

A Certified Nursing Assistant is very much like an RN or registered nurse and as such takes in a CNA salary. What a certified nursing assistant does incur as income they make in jobs ad benefits. This field of work does not require much training but is a great way to make an income in these hard economic times.

In the medical field a certified nursing assistant can make a decent and handsome income although it does not make as much as an RN. The rate payable depends solely on the type of environment a CNA works in. For instance, both elderly and home care can range between $12 to $14 an hour, while hospital care can range between $13 to $20. Extra benefits are not included in this hourly wage.

A CNA salary will also vary based on certain cities and states. For example, in New York, a certified nursing assistance can make around $21,000 t $36,000 per annum while in the state of Florida one can make around $19,000 to $35,000.

Experience is also an important factor when it relates to CNA salary. As experience grows the more an income grows. A certified nurses assistant that has just begun can make around $12,000 a year while a CNA with at least five years experience can gain about $33,000 per annum.

In the US, certified nursing assistant wages has since increased due to their demand. Now, a majority of nursing aids can make between $20,000 and $30,000 per annum. There are also some aids who make up to $35,000 a year as well.

Differences in salary amongst assistants vary based on experience and location of work as well as the level of certification they possess. Some CNAs are very similar and as good as registered nurses but still lack medical training. After gaining a nursing assistant certification an individual is able to be employed by a health care facility. Individuals are also able to make an increase in CNA salary.

Larger health care facilities will also pay more than smaller outfits hence income is dependent on various other factors. Nursing homes will also hire nursing aids but not pay as much as even the smallest hospital. Rural hospitals and nursing homes are amongst the lesser paying institutions in this field.

Certified nursing assistants earn their pay by working underneath registered nurses and doctors and oversee patients on a regular basis. They are responsible for administering medication, helping the patient in and out of bed and also checking in on the patient regularly.

The type of certification acquired by a nursing assistant does not normally affect the income. Some states and cities will also not necessarily require an assistant to be certified in order to work. There are thus both certified and non-certified assistants who can earn the same amount of money as the other. However, states that require a nursing aid to be certified will generally pay more. In this case it is often best to become certified in order to move to a state to get hired and make a larger CNA salary.
