Feel The Fear. Taking your first steps in a new industry can be a scary time and one that is full of uncertainty and doubt. You need to recognise that these are natural emotions and experiences so that you do not falter and fall over the first inevitable hurdles.

Take It Seriously. You should approach your new venture as a business, not a get rich quick scheme. So many people in the world today are looking to make easy money and get rich quick. Unfortunately that opportunity just does not exist. However, there are many people out there who are happy to tell you that it does. They do so because they know that some of those who are looking for that "magic button" will fall for it and buy into their so-called opportunity because they simply want to believe that it is true. Every bone in their body should be telling them that it just isn't so but their minds are greedy and their judgment is clouded.

Life Lesson: You Get Out What You Put In. You will need to make an effort in your new online venture, no matter what form it may take. Whether you are selling affiliate products or your own unique products and services you will need to devote time and energy to make it a success. Those that do not do so are doomed to fail. Those who are too lazy to put something in just won't get anything back out. The natural laws of nature and business dictate that you can't get something for nothing. Have you ever heard the saying "There's no such thing as a free lunch"? It still holds true today.

Have Patience With Yourself and Realistic Goals. You see the skills that you need to develop in order to make money online are actually more varied than you would imagine when you are first starting out in this industry. I was astonished when I first came to realise just how much I would have to learn in order to become proficient and successful online. You have to realise that anything worth learning can not be learned overnight and you will need to commit to making a regular and sustained effort in developing your own knowledge and skills and your actual business. It is no use learning new skills and developing them if you do not actually put them into practice. With that said, don't be too hard on yourself if you are not making millions within six months. Be realistic about what a single person can achieve within a given period of time when the other demands of life come down upon them too. Be ambitious and determined but give yourself a break, emotionally and physically.

Take Action! Successful people are action takers and are distinguished from the unsuccessful crowd by the fact that they take action. They take a calculated risk, take action and make their dreams a reality.

Afraid To Fail? Don't be afraid that the outcome of your efforts won't be the greatest thing that the world has ever seen. Was Da Vinci's Mona Lisa his first ever piece of art? Of course not. Don't be afraid to fail. If you are afraid to fail you will never get started and tragically you will never have the chance to succeed! Embrace a failure or something that you have done or produced that is imperfect. Recognise and learn from the imperfection but don't be ashamed or embarrassed by it. You did the best that you could do at the time and that is all that you or anybody else can ask of you. It doesn't mean that it is the best that you can ever produce. Again, would we have ever heard of Da Vinci if he didn't like his first childhood paintings and declared that he would never be any good at art and would never pick up a paintbrush again?

Focus on the Positives. So focus on the positives in your efforts. Celebrate your personal achievements in your business even if they are not visible to other people. These might be the fact that you read an article on the topic of your business or you read a chapter on web site design. Maybe you attended a webinar or wrote an article. You could have produced a draft of the text for your homepage but whatever it is you must be positive and give yourself credit where it is due. You didn't have to do those things but you made the positive choice to take action and do so. Give yourself a pat on the back.

So don't forget that all the successful internet business people started out at the beginning with no business to their name. Enjoy learning about this industry and embrace the rollercoaster journey to financial freedom that you are taking.
