Buying a Printer
by
Bessie Bradford
A printer can be defined as a peripheral device, which accepts and transforms information's like graphics and data from computer into text that are readable by humans onto a paper. Printer can print any information you want from home use to advertisement and business purposes.
With some computers, printers come along with it as a package or else we will have to buy one ourselves. There are cheap and multi function printers. A cheap printer is one that is attached with the computer and has no use without a computer. But multi function printers can work with and without computers. They can perform independent functions like photocopying, scanning etc.
When deciding to buy a printer you should clearly specify its use; that is if it is for office or home use. Printers that are in common use are: laser, inkjet and dot matrix. Dot matrix is an impact printer and laser and inkjet are non-impact printers. Incase of impact printers, they print images and text by pin head striking on the paper, were as in non-impact printers, there is no physical contact with the paper.
If you are looking for a printer with low printing cost, then dot matrix will be the best option. Even though it uses old technology, these printers are more durable and reliable. They can continuously print on labels and papers. But compared to other modern printers, they are a little noisy and of low print quality, and as the technology advances it will become difficult to find replacement parts for it.
Laser printers use two different types of technology like monochrome or black and white and colored. Monochrome printer will be an ideal option for office use as it can print text only of large volumes. Color printers are basically a little slower than monochrome. They are best for both home and office use but are very much costly. As an alternative for these expensive laser printers, there is an affordable option which is an inkjet printer.
An Inkjet printer is available in two categories as office and home printers. Office printers as for their use are faster than a home printer. Before zeroing in on a printer you should make a study of your requirements and printer functionality. Even though inkjet printers are affordable, while using for long period paper jams will occur more frequently. So, spending a little more on a laser printer will help you in larger savings, if the printing is for a larger volume.
If you want to
