What Is Powerful About Your Business?

What is powerful about your business? Ask yourself this and think about it seriously. Is it something you do or create that no one else does? Is it something that you achieve or are known for that no one does better? What is it that makes your business powerful?

In the world of business we all are in a struggle for power. We either want the power or seek to be the source of the power, but if you are powerless then you will never be able to be successful. This is the game as it has been played for a very long time now. It is like playing chess with everyone in the world that is our competition. One side black and one side white, both seeking to eliminate the other to become more powerful.

This strategy will work for many goals to be sure, but there is another option that we remain oblivious to. Like in chess, you can continually move pieces, block the capture of pieces, sacrifice pieces, or retreat to a safer position. This can go on for a while, especially if both sides are skilled at their strategies. This is what is called a struggle for power. Both sides want the power, yet when they are equally matched it causes the game to go on forever since neither will accept a draw or sacrifice themselves. But there is another option.

If you think about it, both sides seek to be powerful. The ultimate solution would be to share the power and as a result both sides would benefit. Both sides would also become more powerful. So rather than white taking black, or vice versa, the goal would be for neither side to ever lose a piece. You could both choose a strategy that lets the other side progress without attacking. In doing so both sides become the source of their own power. This is a very powerful position for both sides to be in, because neither has to give up anything and both are able to gain from the situation.

What is more powerful than that for either side? It makes no logical sense the way most businesses conduct themselves these days; the hunters have reduced themselves to mere scavengers in their struggle for power.

When competition confronts you in business, these same choices are your options. What makes one business powerful could be even greater if they were to join forces with the other. By sharing their power they become stronger. By their united strength they both can benefit from the ways that the other is different. Then each is powerful because they are an alliance. The ultimate way for a business to become powerful is to find ways to be at balance with the marketplace. Balance is only attainable by being on equal footing with those with whom you compete.

Whatever you seek in life or in business, consider playing the game so that both sides can win. It is a strategy that will open opportunities that you may never have thought of before. If the only thing that brings your business power is the elimination of the competition, then what will you do if you ever conquer them? What will you draw your power from then? Do you know?

Now ask yourself again, what is powerful about your business?
