Do you see how your reasons are limiting you? Whenever we make justifications for what is happening in our business, we end up with walls that have a hand creating our own limitations. Here are some ways we reason our way into creating our limitations, but all of them are simple when examined more closely.

Your see things only in the scope of your own perspectives. This stems from the tendency to be in denial about your own selfishness or a personal unwillingness to modify your point of view, especially when you think you are right. This kind of tunnel vision will kill the best business ideas and it makes a hard environment to exchange ideas openly. In its worst aspect all thinking is limited to the ideas that gel well with yours, but nothing practical can get through. Open minded thinking is good for business.

Your need for security causes you not to take enough risks. To be successful there is a considerable amount of risk involved. It is not a game for the faint at heart. There is something to the idea that it takes a bit of madness to be successful, but being willing to take calculated chances when they will benefit the overall outcome is important. Successful business is in it for the big prize and you have to be willing to play the game a little outside of the box. A certain level of practical risk taking that is healthy in business.

Your fear of failure makes it harder for you to learn from your mistakes. Those who carefully never fail, will fall hard the first time they do experience failure. It is easy to follow the path of doing only what is easy, but this is not the path toward the greatest reward. There are mistakes that are foolish, but other mistakes are lessons that sharpen your skills. Great businesses are run by people who are willing to be fearless. You must sometimes leap in order to take flight. Fearlessness is are great asset in business.

Your desire to be accepted undermines your authority. You should know that others accept you based on who you are, but needing their approval makes it impossible to lead them effectively. A business owner needs to hire or fire employees at times, and delegate responsibility. Your friends are no different in status when it comes to their job. No one has an opinion that should influence your leadership more than your own. Leadership is the essential key to being in business.

You must learn when perfectionism is not appropriate. Nothing is perfect and rarely is ever going to be. Sometimes we may hit a peak of productivity or creative spark that seems just right. Idealism is great for brainstorming and vision, but it must be complimented by realistic expectations. They are often in conflict with one another, so learn to hold back a bit with both of their energies. Consistency is the most natural part of business.

Each of these lessons is a part of being a more directed and practical in your business life and becoming a better leader overall. Do you see how your reasons are limiting you? Because you can use them to become limitless in your thinking.
