While many of us may well not fully understand the attractions of the social media networks now available across-the-board, in reality there are hundreds of millions of people around the world who live their lives online. As a consequence, rather than discounting this potentially lucrative goldmine we should all get out our spades and begin to dig for those social media leads which could lead to significant transactions in the future.

Why social media networks?

For those who have not even attempted to glean social media network leads from the Internet it may be difficult to understand why social media networks are so powerful. The truth is that as we mentioned above there are millions upon millions of people who live their lives every day on the Internet via their Twitter or Facebook accounts. Not only do they ask questions, give advice and comment one particular products or services they require but they also give away an infinite amount of detail about their private lives, much of which can be used to close a potentially lucrative business transaction.

How often should you monitor social media networks?

When you consider the number of people posting on social media networks on a regular basis there are literally new business leads appearing each and every minute of each and every day. That is not to say that you should be researching social media sites minute by minute every day but there will be no harm in researching specific comments and questions a number of times a day. Remember, as a business lead appears on the social media networks it is open to your competition and it will literally be on a first-come first-served basis.

You need to be in it to win it and if you're not willing to put in the extra time and effort, using leads tracking software, then you should possibly reconsider your business future.

Converting leads

As we suggested above, there is no doubt that time is of the essence when looking to convert a social media network business lead because there are literally millions upon millions of people with access to this information. Whether some of your business competitors come across these leads by chance or else they are attempting to harvest information like you are there is competition out there. Speed is of the essence and you need to have your communication system in place before you even begin looking for potential business leads.

Building up a customer base

While it seems a very obvious thing to say, there are many people in the business arena who are relatively good at harvesting potential business leads but who fail to follow them up in the medium to long term. Far too many people will discount a business lead if a transaction is not readily available in the short term or indeed even if the potential customer begins to ask awkward questions. This is commercial suicide!

You have already done the hard work by attracting the attention of the would-be potential customer in the short term so why not remain in communication with them in the medium to long-term, get to know them better and mould your services and product offerings around their specific requirements. Knowing your customer and communicating with your customer are the two most important things in the business arena and those who automatically discount potential business leads just because they do not convert immediately are throwing away gold dust.
